Sailing Education and Racing

The IYC Youth Sailing Program introduces young participants to the fun of sailing and an appreciation for Tomales Bay. The young sailors develop confidence in boat handling and basic water safety skills. Sportsmanship and a respect for each other and the environment are encouraged. Although the focus is on learning through fun activities, for those that are interested, it is an opportunity to develop racing skills.  The program is organized through the efforts of the IYC Youth Sailing Committee and run by a group of enthusiastic qualified instructors who are experienced sailors. The summer sessions continue a long standing tradition that has produced some of the Club’s top sailors.

Mike Meszaros honored for his work as founder of the IYC Youth Sailing Program.
A new Youth Sailing trophy has been designated the “Mike Meszaros Perpetual Trophy for “Outstanding Rookies of the Year and will be awarded at the end of each Session to first year Youth Sailing sailors who “best exemplify the spirit of the founder”.
