Jon Wilson – The Restorer’s Journey is a cinematic portrait of the man who took on a monumental task to change the course of wooden boat history. Jon's passion for the preservation of wooden boats has inspired generations of boat builders, boat owners, and boat dreamers. When he launched the first issue of WoodenBoat magazine in 1974, he had no idea how the effect would ripple out into the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands of readers on every continent. Jon subsequently expanded the reach of the magazine through book publishing and by establishing the WoodenBoat School and WoodenBoat Show, Professional Boatbuilder Magazine and Hope Magazine. Self taught and self made - guided by mentors who “appeared” just as he needed them - Jon Wilson will leave an indelible mark on the boating world and beyond.
Internationally acclaimed Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser (from Inverness, Scotland) and cellist Natalie Haas are coming again to the Inverness Yacht Club for a special benefit performance for the IYC Youth Sailing Program (YS). Alasdair and Natalie perform world wide and are among the most highly regarded artists preforming Celtic music.
This again will be a very popular event as Alasdair and Natalie have a wide and enthusiastic following in the greater Bay Area. Attendance will be limited to 140.
Tickets are $50 per person with proceeds going directly to the YS program. The program will be from 7:30-10:00 on December 2. Refreshments will be served, AND there will be a special Malt Scotch sampling in recognition of the spirit of the evening. Tickets will be available for purchase on the IYC website for club members. Non-members will be able to get tickets on the Saltwater website (events) where there will be a link for this benefit performance. It is strongly recommended that tickets be purchased early as this is likely to be a very popular event. Last year’s performance was a sell-out and there were some very unhappy people who couldn’t get tickets.
The Social Committee invites you to a casual evening with FREE Pizza and Salad. We will have a short presentation of the planned events and new ideas for 2017-2018.
The bar will be open from 6-9.
It’s a great time to find out the plans for future open houses and dinner events, get a chance to suggest new events, find your perfect volunteer spots or just hang out with your fellow members.
