Adult Sailing
Scope
The Mission of the IYC Adult Sailing program is
to maximize the number of adult sailors at the Club,
and to encourage members who do not own boats to
sail on our bay. The Adult Sailing Program has two
main activities: 1) Adult Sailing Lesson Program,
and 2) Adult Sailing Checkout Program. If you are
interested in participating in either of these programs,
please read below and click onward to find more
details. Or you can contact the chair of Adult Boating
(Ned Congdon, 925-362-8820).
Equipment
The Club owns and maintains two Flying Scots, CF
3888 CE, "Blue Bonnet", and CF 1389CE,
"Banshee", both parked in the yard on
trailers in the row of boats closest to the Bay.
Sails are stored in yellow bags kept in a rack
next to the safety boat in the Clubhouse. The sails
are marked at the tack as follows:
Six Mainsails: 502, May 05, 31 (in blue), 31 (in
black), 602, 4092
Five Jibs: May 05, 12-04, 502, 503, 4092
Jib sheets are attached to the jibs. Sometimes
the jibs are in the Adult Sailing Locker #55. The
Club owns a spinnaker that is stored either in the
Pelican locker or in the Adult Sailing Locker.
Sailors must bring and wear their own Coast Guard
approved Type III personal flotation devices. Alternatively
there are some Mae West style life preservers in
the Adult Sailing locker that can be used.
I hope to see you soon out on our beautiful bay!
